Jim's birthday is on July 14th, Bastille Day, la fête nationale for the French because on that day in 1789 brave people stormed the infamous Bastille which had been used by the French monarchy to jail people on arbitrary indictments that could not be appealed. Inasmuch as we both believe in revolución, revolution, which simply means, from the Latin revolutio, a 'turn around,' a fundamental change in power and structure, and I think being born on Bastille Day is an augur of a special destino or fate, we are getting married on that day!
El cumpleaños de Jim es el 14 de julio, el día de la Bastilla, la fiesta nacional para los franceses porque en ese día en el 1789 el pueblo valiente irrumpió en la infame Bastilla, que era usada por la monarquía francesa para encarcelar a las personas con base en acusaciones arbitrarias que no podían ser apeladas. Ya que ambos creemos en la revolución, que viene del latín revolutio y simplemente significa darse vuelta, y es un cambio fundamental en el poder y las estructuras, y yo pienso que el nacer en la fecha de la toma de la Bastilla augura un destino especial; por eso hemos decidido casarnos en ese día.
